LEDs

LED lights are one of the most efficient and eco-friendly lighting options on the market. With a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours of use – in comparison to the 3000 hours of their halogen equivalents – these lights have a much longer useable life than any other product available.

With an average load of 3-5 watts and a lumen output that is equal to, if not more than their halogen or filament counterparts, they have a much lower power consumption rate. These two features put together make for a very efficient product.

In their original form, LED’s were used for much smaller tasks, such as in decorative lighting or indicator lights. Due to the progression of technology over recent years, LED’s have become common place in many more domestic, commercial and industrial applications.

Because LED lamps use much less power, they also produce much less heat. This, while being beneficial from a health and safety point of view, can also have a positive effect on air conditioning units as they don’t have to work as hard to bring the room temperature down which can reduce electricity bills further.

Unlike older styles of lamp, such as compact fluorescent technologies, LED’s do not require a Material Safety Data Sheet or hazardous waste disposal. They contain no toxic materials, hazardous mercury or halogen gases.

LED’s are much more durable than other lamps due to the lack of moving parts or filament meaning that for applications where regular vibration or movement is an issue, they can be very beneficial. They can also withstand moderate power surges and can operate well in hot or cold conditions.
