The Environment

In this ‘throw it away’ age we strive to reduce our carbon footprint through company procedures, but also to educate others in how they can reduce theirs.

Using low energy lighting can reduce your CO2 emissions greatly and impact the environment and your electricity bill positively. Due to the longer lifespan of LED lamps, there is less need to replace lamps regularly, meaning less physical waste as well as a huge reduction in energy waste.

In 2007 the UK government stated that all incandescent lamps would be phased out by 2011. This initiative was to pave the way for advances in technology and decrease the amount of high energy lamps that are on the market in order to reduce the carbon emissions of the country. While some incandescent lamps are still available on the market due to suppliers finding loopholes in legislation, it has been mainly effective and the majority of lamps on the UK market are now significantly more energy efficient.

All types of fluorescent and discharge lamps are now classed as hazardous waste, in order to comply with the WEEE directive that enforces this, businesses must manage the disposal of these products in an appropriate and responsible manner.

As a business, we ensure that all waste that can be recycled is done so correctly and any hazardous waste that we are responsible for is dealt with in the appropriate way.
